Kinda dingy but that is the point. The VFW offers a nice break from all the other candy hog wash around... Where did the uptwn i Knew go? Just as said below... drink prices cheapest in town..straight up. The drinks made are more than what i paid for..and you cant drink while singing because you might spill..(for the chick below) And i the popcorn you salt your self.....

This place is lame... the bartender doesn't know many drinks or shots, crappy happy hour, the wait for kareoke is at least an hour, the popcorn is EXTREMELY salty (and I LOVE salt!) and most people there are really unfriendly.

If I could give this place no stars I would, and that hurts me, since I am an army brat and have grown up in many a VFW. The lady running the karaoke cuts your song off half way through for no reason, the wait is at least an hour and a half, and you can't swear into the mic or hold your drink while you sing. Whats the point?

This is the most fun/sociable bar in Uptown IMHO. Everytime I go there I meet new people and the karaoke is a blast. There's a shortage of D-Bags, so if you are into that sort of thing you may as well stay away! This place reminds me of a college party with older people.

You want a good burger cheap? This is the place on Saturday's. The menu is short. No frills burger/cheeseburger, with or without fries under $5. They only serve them 1pm to 3pm, but it's worth the money.

I love the VFW. It's like the dive bars my dad used to bring me to, when it was still en vogue to bring your kids to the bar. I like the grumbly regulars.

A great place to spend some time. They respect me a vet and seem to care about who I am. I always have fun at the meat raffle. Gayle makes me feel like I'm home and seems to enjoy her job. I talked to the bartenders and they all say she don't drink on the job. Don't know where that started but sounds like someone has a problem and wants to take it out on Gayle.

Boy there are some bitter reviewers here. Hey, it's the VFW, not NATO. It's a blue collar bar with frequent hipster envaders. If you want multicultural and enlightened, try Lurcat or even Chino. You want to feel unapprciated? Go white to Famous Daves on a Saturday nite with a salza band playing.

What a bar! Very diverse crowd and karoake is a blast. Also a great place to pick up old skeezers wearing 1987 Twins World Series sweatshirts, tucked into their Girbauds!!

Gets crowded on the weekends so grab a booth early and don't give it up. Stay away from the Long Islands if you don't want to ruin your life. Cheap drinks, awesome entertainment. Plus the bartender looks like Frasier.

i love this place. it's great for people watching... always a weird mix. T.C.O. (the Tall Cool One) is the awesomest at karaoke... he even has his own top picks page in the song book. He IS the dude.

the regulars here are awesome as long as you respect the place. you will run into some people that are there for the novelty of drinking at a VFW. you'll usually see those "sheep" getting asked to leave after cursing into the mic during karaoke. bad move. dont eat the food. enjoy the brews. vote.
