The Uptown bar is a classic bar with a long tradition for featuring some of the best local bands at a fair price... most of the cover goes to the bands anyways, so its a great way to support local music. Live music is almost nightly.

Frequented by the hip untown crowd, the Uptown Bar features several rooms and a classical 70's decor of large vynil booths and a centered bar. The other room is a bit larger and lined with high tables to watch the bands up front. They also have a dancefloor that holds about 50. They are famous for their patio that faces Hennepin Avenue (great for people watching in the summer) and for their weekend brunch. You can get a great bloody mary and keep the glass for $5. The uptown bar is deffinitely on the grungy side, but thats intentional. Its always a good time and the patrons are usually quite nice and social no matter which band is rocking the crowd for the evening. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that they pour a mean Jack and Coke...

Daily get their famous bloody maries for $6.25 and keep the glass ($5 refill).

Highly overpriced and slow service. Not at all authentic what they claim to be. Patio is nice, only in summer. For the money you can get lot better stuff somewhere else in Minneapolis

The Uptown Bar has been a staple for Uptown way befor I even arrived here in Mpls. But I have to say that it is a toilet. I usually am a little more forgiving when it comes to a cheap drink but Jesus. The party that I was with decided to belly up to the bar, the bartender was a rockabilly guy with the shittiest attitude that I have seen in a long time. Im sorry that his life sucks so bad that he has nothing better to do than be shitty to everyone around him. An dfor the total topper he sneezed into his hands and went and grabed a couple of beers and twisted the caps off and served them. NEVER EVER will I retuarn to this place. If that is what the bartender will do in front of you only god knows what happens behind the scenes.

I went there for breakfast/bloodies this morning and it was awful. My bloody mary glass honestly smelled like human feces. The service was awful, but I think I might suck at my job, too, if it meant working at a shithole like that place. People always complain about big chain restaurants ruining Uptown, but this is one joint that I would happily see replaced by an Applebees. Worst food in town.

Uptown ROCKS. Of course its grungy..it is what it is and it's supposed to be. The breakfast food is awesome and the Bloodies are the absolute best. See you on Friday morning!
