Uptown: Location Description/Map

Uptown is defined as the areas South & West of Downtown and Interstate 94. The hot areas are between Franklin Ave. (2000) & Lake Street (3000) on Hennepin S & Lyndale S Avenues, Uptown also includes Eat Street (Nicollet Avenue). Uptown is a great place for young professionals, stylish 20-somethings, and older-upscales. It is probably the most liberal and artsy part of the city; a place where you can go to to be accepted and not overwhelmed by activity. It is home to the beutiful chain of lakes (Calhoun, Isles, Cedar, Harriet) and many urban recreational activities. It is also boasts more unique shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants per square mile than any other part of the city and is famous for its summer Art & Beer Festivals (usually early-mid July).

  • The best time for Uptown is the warmer outdoor months.
  • Parking can usually be found for free off-street if you are willing to walk a few blocks, there are meters on Hennepin Avenue.
  • If headed to the lake, go South on Hennepin to about 33rd street, from there, go right and find free neighborhood parking.
