4.6 out of 5 (from 21 users)NON SMOKING!! Finally, a place that is great to study at, hang-out, chow on EXCELLENT food, and listen to jazz. This is not really a bar, but more of a quaint restaurant in the heart of Dinkytown. Kafe 421 is new, but has a lot of history and is in the location of the old Bon Appetite, where Bob Dylan used to play open mic nights back in the day before our time. You would never know that to look at this place though, the decor is pleasant and comfortable. They also have a few seats outside for the summer. Food prices are moderate, and worth the price. It's worth a visit for a nice dining experience, especially on Monday for the 1/2 priced wine. They also do catering, ask for Georgia.

i recently went to the loring pasta bar and was disappointed and disgusted. in contrast i went to kafe 421 last weekend and it was soooo nice. the staff was friendly and competent, the food was very good, and not overpriced. i was very satisfied. the only thing i would say is that its too bad the patio isn't bigger. i felt like i was sitting in a booth with the stranger next to me, kind of awkward...
