This has got to be one of my favorite dinkytown places. It’s dark, comforting, and friendly. They have a full bar and practically every type of beer you could want on tap (22 varieties), if not on tap, they have it in the bottle. Music is typically hip hop, rock, or electronic with DJ's almost all the time.
If you are lucky enough to get a good couch spot you might not want to get up for the night, but you should. Hit the tiny dance floor (for about 30) or mingle with the other patrons. Everyone here is exceptionally nice and easy to meet. The Dinkytowner has a more alternative and artsy crowd and also hosts good local acts for cheap covers (usually with student discounts). If you aren't feeling the music, head to the back. The Dinkytowner has 7 well-maintained pool tables for $1 that are easy to get a game on. Also, domestic pitchers are normally priced at $8. It is also open late and a good spot to go for after drinking grub. Although I've never really had their food, I hear the breakfasts are good and reasonably priced. If you are going out in Dinkytown I would recommend the Dinkytowner.

The DT is one of the coolest places around the U to just hang out. The staff are friendly, the food is a great bargain.

I personally love the atmosphere, the staff, the strong drinks, and the fact you can actually hold a conversation without yelling over over-played pop music. Dinkytowner is bomb. 5 stars.

I'd say the dinkytowner is the place to go if you want herpes. Yes, it has good drink specials, but honestly, I think it's dirty and disgusting. The food is soaked in grease and may just give you a heart attack. Some of the live bands there are good though, so it's worth a shot, but make sure you have your vaccinations.
