The 400 bar is a classic music venue that underwent renovation some time ago. A good beer selection is offset by the pricing, however, they do get good shows and random huge acts (ie. R.E.M). They don't have much of a happy hour, but Old Style & PBR pints are always on special. Worth going to if there is a specific show you want to see.

Saw a friend's band play there recently and it was poppin! Sound could have been a bit better. Otherwise, great lineup and cheap PBR. Couldn't ask for more.

A. The 400 Bar is a music venue foremost. A music venue with a bar. B. Most shows have a $5 cover. This is very cheap. C. Christ, drinks are NOT expensive (try living in a city where $8 is a "cheap" beer). Get over it. Besides, for a $5 cover, what kind of asshole is going to complain about drink prices? D. This is not Drink. If you go to the 400 looking to order something with a "twist," you're either blind, delusional or mentally retarded. E. Note to musicians complaining about no free drinks: EARN those drinks.

hey, um, 400 has been (long before many of the bitchy people here were going to shows) and remains a great venue, and does maintain great sound. whine about "sightlines" if you wish, but the reasons excellent national acts keep coming back here is the staff, owners, and professionalism exhibited by such. if some local bands that can't draw more than 10 people want to cry about not getting a drink, they can play somewhere else, like the COFFEE SHOP mentioned in another posting. Ha! The 400 has gone to great lengths in aiding many local acts that want to be more than some weekend bar band (that plays 4 shows a month, and that no one goes to see) And the prices? the most expensive tap is $5, and has been for years...a couple $3 selections, and a rail liquor list better than any in town...where else is svedka, beefeater, bacardi and seagram's 7 on the rail?? and saying First Ave is a premier venue? sure, but it isn't any prettier, cleaner, and kinder to its patrons than the 400.
