The Wild Onion is a popular place on Grand Avenue and is frequented by a lot of the St. Thomas crowd. They have a large bar, big booths, and a small dancefloor. The inside is dim, and the walls are lined with bright portrait paintings. The Wild Onion hosts dancing (Top 40) and drinking on the weekends. They utilize the concept of large portions, decent prices, and lends to a long night of over-consumption. The Wild Onion is a pretty safe bet for any night out in St. Paul if you are looking for large crowds. Note: Weekend nights sometimes include a cover charge.

THRIFTY TIP- Get a buy-one get one free during your birthday week (wed). If you come on your birthday, get a free drink and a t-shirt.

I used to work at a night club in Mpls and have experienced way more drama @ The Onion than I have at ANY Mpls club... First of all, The Wild Onion is a RESTAURANT, not a nightclub... The quantity and quality of the bouncers here are totally absurd. They smell like Aqua Di Gio and farts. Take a GD shower... My friend was not allowed in because he was wearing shorts... Shorts? Really? Not even swanky places have a "No shorts" policy... Way to make up dress codes to look exclusive. Dip$hits... Then let all your gangster friends in. You can spot all the bouncers' friends in the place because they are all ghetto as hell and pretty much the only guys in there breaking every dress code imaginable. The Wild Onion at night is not cool, it's not fun, and it's full of shifty people (including the bouncers). I don't know where 90 percent of this clientele comes from, cause it's not the Grand Ave area. And why anyone would take a long trip to spend a night here is beyond me. However, Saturday and Sunday mornings are the complete opposite from the weekend nights. Hit up the bloody bar, watch a game, and have some sliders. That is the Wild Onion the way it was intended. A RESTAURANT. 2 stars because of the lunch factor.

The staff is energetic and friendly, especially on Sunday mornings!:) Definitely a frat party on Friday and Saturday nights, but who doesn't like to regress back to college once in awhile?
