Sweeney’s is a popular bar with its regulars. It is the Neighborhood Bar, no frills attached. The interior is a bit small and elongated, nestled in between several other neighboring businesses. They almost always play classic rock over the stereo. The interior is nicely lit and they have old brick walls, a small fireplace, and wooden booths. Even the bar is old antique wood, giving it the appearance of a classic watering hole. That’s why, for the life of us, we can’t figure out why they line their walls and ceilings with hanging banners for Sweeney’s and Chaing O’Hara’s (same owner). It takes away from the classicalness of its interior and makes it much less comfortable. Anyways, the music is classic rock and the crowd is on the older side, especially during the daytime hours. They also have a pretty good tap beer selection with your normal 10 and then about 5 specialties. THRIFTY TIP- Mon, Tues, get $1.50 burgers with a drink purchase.

If you like A*hole bar tenders and crazy-jacked-up beers prices. -$22 a pitcher on a good day! Then choose Sweeney's. This place was once a great bar. Hit the Nook for the best food and drink specials in St. Paul.

Get real Brian Shelley, first 5 out of 5 then 1 out of 5. I mean your name is all over the wall. We all know you wish your name was Brian Sweeney.

The place was once great. (Different ownership.) Fortunately for the new Sweeney owners, there are still people in their late 20's to early 40's that actually remember a down to earth bar with a nice waitstaff. I have been there three times in the last year, and each time have had really poor service. The pitcher prices are insane. I truly believe that if this place did not have a nice patio out back, they would shut down.

Sweeney's is okay, but probably my least favorite bar in the Dale St. area. The pitchers of beer are painfully overpriced.

This place lives on with me based on past great times and people. I still enjoy the atmosphere but never get good vibes about the service. Never the less, I'll still patronize it a couple times a year.
