Saji Ya is a popular and great place for sushi. They have put a lot into the décor and have added a new sushi bar to go along with a fish ponded, bamboo decked, Japanese décor. The crowd is older early on, but at night Saji Ya turns into a lounge for a younger, hip, crowd. The best is their upper level patio that flourishes with flowers and other plants in the summer months. Patrons usually listen to classic R&B or Jazz and enjoy the wide selection of sake and great taps (Anchor Steam, New Castle, etc.) Their happy hour is nice because it features reduced prices, not reduced quality as is the case with some places. You can also look for Valet on the weekends, but it’s really unnecessary due to ample free parking in their lot.

I don't love Saji-Ya, but during HH, it really is a great place to have some quality sushi. Sure, it's in the lounge but considering sometimes the service is questionable, sitting at the bar with the bartender right there, I feel like service is a bit better. Plus, it's the cool red lounge. I've eaten in the bar, in the restaurant and at the teppanyaki tables and I'm overall, a fairly satisfied customer. I gave it 3 of 5 because of service (not food).

I love Sajiya. Everybody is so friendly and food is great! They have the best calamari.

Pros: amazing variety of fresh sushi; great service, cozy & trendy couches Cons: expensive if you're trying to fill up for dinner; hard to spot from Grand Ave

The food is a 5, but the service is way beyond leisurely. I'm all for a relaxing meal, but this was just ridiculous.
