The Liffey is an original Irish Pub that has a long established tradition in downtown St. Paul. They have two separate sit down drinking areas + a bar that is medium-smoky with fine cigars. They also have nice patio seating. The crowd is a bit younger, mid-20's to early 30's, but anyone feels welcome here. They also sell cigars, but only in bar so that the other rooms can stay relatively smoke free. They usually play Irish music and feature live Irish bands of Friday & Saturday, 9-close. Oh, it’s also important to mention that the staff is extremely friendly and helpful; make this a stop if you are heading out in St. Paul.

Good drinks, but it's usually crowded, and always hot and loud. Pretty much anyone would feel at ease there, and it draws a diverse crowd. PS. every time I've been there I've had to deal with bitchy waitresses who really seems to hate life...

If you are going to an event in Saint Paul, go to the Liffey before/after for diner/drinks. We come before every Wild game, and yea it's super busy and packed, but the service is always great and the food comes out very fast, and tastes great (reubens!!). A must go in DT SP.

I used to love this place, but all the cool people that used to work here are gone. Where did they go? Now it kind of reminds me of an Irish TGI Fridays. Hot Wings anyone?
