Great Waters is a Brew Pub located in the heart of downtown St. Paul. They have a great summer patio and homemade strong and flavorful beers. They also use more upscale rail liquor (Smirnoff, Windsor, etc)

This place has great beer, good atmosphere, good food... there's not much more you could ask for!

the atmosphere is not very cozy - no booths, bright lighting. the food is good but pretty expensive. the real reason to come here is the beer, which is fantastic in every possible way. our waitress was cool too. next time we'll go for the patio though.. inside, it's very.. ugh.

The server I had on Monday night was pleasant. You can't beat their $1.00/8oz special, especially when it's home brewed.

Great Waters can't figure out if it is a bar or a restaurant. When you sit at a bar table, you are treated as if you are in a restaurant even if you are just there to hang out. They also play the same boring music over and over and the lighting is too bright. On a number of occasions I've sat in the bar at one table and because I've known people at other tables been charged an obligatory "large party" tip. The food is average to poor. The beer is decent. The service really ranges.

Mostly come here for the beer, although not a bad place to spend the morning after a long night to sit and nurse a bloody mary. The pulled beer is better than the pushed, and despite a mostly English style selection, the occasional Belgian style brew that pops up is usually worth a try. Food is basic “trendy pub, and nothing to write home about. Occasionally a small stage is set up for a mixed quality line up of lower key music.
