Dixies is a Cajun restaurant with the same owners as Saji Ya next door. It is also more of a restaurant than a bar (as is typical with St. Paul) and features a moderately priced ($13 avg. entrée) Cajun menu. They have high ceilings and ample table and booth seating for their patrons. The bar is a large octagon at the front of the establishment. Dixies has a lot of “southern charm�? and now has live blues and jazz Tuesday – Saturday for 3 hours at night (starting at 8:30 weekdays, 9:30 weekends), never a cover. They have also won an award for “best mashed potatoes�? if such an award should be given (they come as a side choice with the food). Patrons are usually 25-40’s and casually dressed. Dixies shares the lot with Saji Ya, so free parking is no problem. The food is decent and the drinks are good, although it may be a bit too laid back, Dixies is a great option to start the night out and try something new.

Prompt and attentive service from experienced wait staff covered for the lack-luster food. The green bean appetizer was clearly frozen and drenched in a off-the-shelf teriyaki sauce. The shrimp quesadilla had a tasty Havarti cheese but the pineapple salsa was canned and unimpressive. Next time, cocktails only.

Went there for happy hour..pretty busy but it seemed worth it for 1/2 off any appetizers and 2.50 cocktails. Might try on a weekday next time though.

Dixie's on Grand has great service and food. The crab cakes are yummy and our server was very accommodating!!! They have great drink specials...Wine Wednesday is the best!!

As long as you stick to the tasty cocktails you will be okay. The food isn't very flavorful, odd for how grossly fried it all is. It's like they took soul food and tried to make it midwestern-palate friendly. Bad plan.

I've never eaten at Dixie's. The service at the bar was good. They just raised the Happy Hour prices, but they're still good.
