Dim lit and inviting, the service and the food, hip and stylish; everything combines perfectly to make Cafe Maude one of the best spots in Southwest Minneapolis. Trendy groups of 30-50 year old professionals fill the tables and booths nightly. A large bar is at the center of the room (specializing in great martini concoctions), and it is surrounded by diners. There is also a small stage set up for jazz trios, which play on the weekends and some week days.
Cafe Maude's menu is small (4-5 options in each category), but everything on it is a winner. The Carpaccio/Beet Appetizer ($9) was incredible and everything else we ordered was flavorful and delicate. Cafe Maude's wine list is also a feature and there are many bottle options at $20-26.
