Ah, Pepito’s. This place holds so many memories, most likely for a lot of people from Minneapolis. From its humble beginnings in 1971 to its highlight on the silver screen in Untamed Heart, it holds a lot of history here, nestled in the heart of South Minneapolis. Now while it isn’t necessarily a drinking establishment (most people enjoy a Corona with their meal or an after-dinner shot of tequila), it does feature the Poco Loco Lounge, open till midnight every night with a wide selection of beers (bottled and tap, import and domestic) and a very unique and diverse collection of margarita drinks. It can become steeply-priced, sure, but there are some very accommodating happy hours to take advantage of. It is safe to say that if you live in South Minneapolis, you have very little reason not to check this piece of Minneapolitan history out.

If you go to Pep's get the Mexican pizza w/spiced pork. Fantastic! Try it and you'll see.

Pepitos is really TexMex or SouthMex, it's not traditional Mexican by any means. I do not spend time in the bar, but the food is fantastic. Compared to other "TexMex" options, the prices are just right and maybe even better than the suburban chains. The black bean soup is amazing, served with a heap of sour cream and a super fresh tortilla. The "hot" salsa is a bit mild for this Texan, but it's tasty. Let's not forget that after you fill up on tortilla chips, you can check a flick for $4 in the adjacent theater. Try to get that on Eat Street!

I grew up down the street from Pepito's and now I can't help but to hate this place. Terrible service and food keeps getting worse every year.
