A true hipster joint, the Chatterbox Pub is located in South Minneapolis, right off Cedar Avenue on 35th street (can take 55 south and exit to the right). The interior is decked out in 80's classic style. Sit and enjoy a long list of beers while playing a table-style pac man or other classic arcade games and Atari 2600 or board games. The music is very similar to the decor, and although they obviously didn't spend too much on the design, it all seems to fit together in perfect harmony. The Chatterbox is a popular place with the nieghborhood crowd and serves excellent bistro style food and upscale pizzas ($8-12). They also have an extensive wine list. Its worth a visit any night, especially for late night eats, the Chatterbox serves food until midnight.

We went to the Highland Park Chatterbox and here are the reasons my husband and I would recommend it: 1.As previously mentioned the Sake Bloody Mary's are AWESOME!! and accompanied with a beer shooter. 2. Our server (we just had one) was quirky, prompt, and funny. 3. Affordable video games, with a variety to choose from with endless time limits..need I say more 4. Reasonable prices (we didn't go during happy hour) 5. We enjoyed the breakfast fare. Lots of options with a twist. Look forward to trying lunch/dinner options.

I enjoy the food and feel of Chatterbox, but I cannot stand the TVs. There's no way to avoid them.

You want good beer, wine and lots of garlic and herbs and stuff on a pizza, burger, or whatever, while you laugh and play games in a non- money grubbing atmosphere.... Then this is for you!! Prices are less than at a chain and beer prices are cheap for comparable stuff. Most of the reads here that don't like the food, are way off base. They are expecting typical bar food and this place makes everything from scratch. Saki bloody mary is awesome! they have a huge jar behind the bar where they infuse it with tons of herbs and peppers and make the mix from scratch!!! Now if you want a cheap greasey dive (which I love too) this is the spot. They also donate to the community and actually care. Just ask those servers who will actually talk to you. Nice!!

The setting is nice but although the food descriptions are written well, the food really isn't that good. I keep going there because for whatever reason people keep suggesting it. I hang on to the little hope that maybe THIS time I will get a good meal, but no.... nothing to write home about. It's not BAD by any means, just disappointing.

The food is expensive, which would be fine if it was actually good food. Everything that I have tired on the Menu (with the exception of the onion rings and the chicken strips) was worth 1/3 of what I paid for it. Their burgers are served on the crappiest foccacia I have ever had, their chicken is dry, their fries are overcooked, their burgers are right off a truck and usually really dry, and to top it off you smell like the state fair when you leave. Oh, and they ha ve the worst table service in the city. They do a collective serving model where every server is your server, which means they always forget stuff, take 209 minutes to check on you, and there is no way to tip good service or not tip bad service, cuz all the tips go into a pot... booo. I wish there were better pubs in the neighborhood so i never had to go back.
