yikes - it sounds like "former employee" above got the boot and now he's spreading rumors about the place. get a life man. this place is what it has always been- a tavern, a dive bar, and a neighborhood bar. It's just fine the way it is.

Who is this beat md dj at the brass rail? This guy has been known to be a big user of recreational drugs and I am sure he is selling them there. Stay away from this place.

Just heard some inside news about the finances of the bar. Johnny VuVu has not paid the building rent in 2 months and is going to lose the business. Pete from Sneaky Pete's is going to remove Johnny and the business from the building unless Johnny sells the business to him. I hope for the gay community that Johnny does sell and also that Pete keeps it as a gay bar. Kudo's to Pete! As being part of the Brass Rail Staff Family it is a great pleasure to know that Johnny Vieau has failed once again because of his excessive drinking and his great lack of business intelligence. P.s. the changes in the bar that str8 John the manager made - suck and the place still looks like hell and still has that ronchy odor. They should hand out nose plugs at each door. Not to mention per say but the staff has gotten pretty snooty the last few months and the drinks are so weak that just to get a buzz you need alot and of course they sure like to keep selling you weak drinks but still are not making enough money to keep the place open. The Saloon is pretty much the only true Gay bar left in Minneapolis, spend your time there and enjoy a pleasant, more fun, and stronger drink atmosphere.

I'm sorry everyone, but the Brass Rail needs to be torn down. Physically, the bar is so dilapidated that you can see the building twisting and falling apart from the outside. Yes, I know that people have memories of how fun it used to be, but I have to say that despite the many times I have given the place "another chance" and wandered in, it has always been gross. The narrow bar is filled with old men that look like the cast from "No Country for Old Men." Sorry oldies, maybe you should go back to your day job of stalking young boys at the Harmar mall...
