I have only gone to Nami for HH, and although they may not have the BEST sushi in town - it's not bad either. Their HH menu is limited as to what's on special, but who's menu isn't for HH?! I have never had a problem with service, either getting served or the quality of the service. I have sat both at tables and at the bar. I will continue to go there for HH when I want sushi and am in the neighborhood because the quality to price ratio is not bad. You do get what you pay for... and you aren't paying Seven or Tiger Sushi prices. So go figure.

I'm not sure what 'midwest sushi' means, but Nami has served me consistently great sushi. Like any place, it's hard to always hit it out of the park (no restaurant is perfect), but the happy hour is GREAT and I have never been disappointed.

I think henry is a sushi whore. he works every sushi bar in town he think nami is good because it is free of charged, wait until he works at tiger... no one like him at seven sushi...

The food was decent but one of the waitresses was so rude we almost left. My boyfriend and I sat ourselves in the bar area because no one was at the host stand. A waitress came over and bullied us out of our table because we were at a table for four (mind you, it was the end of HH and wasn't busy AT ALL). She was completely unapologetic and then she complained aloud about how she had to reset our table since we had used our water glasses. We wouldn't have stayed if she had been the server at our new table (luckily the new server was awesome). Then we watched (from our tiny table) as another party of two was seated there about 5 minutes later. In my opinion, there's no reason to move a party like that unless the table is reserved, and there's never a good reason to talk to a customer so rudely.

Okay, so it's midwest sushi, but isn't that to be expected? The service is fine (it all depends) and there are great happy hour prices on simple sushi rolls and other hot morsels. The atmosphere is great and it's got a good feel. Not bad at all.

Fish is o.k., servers are good, but the bartender is a giant ass! Word is he's the manager and a nice guy when not tending bar. But he can't handle the job. Dude, it's not as easy as it looks! You've got to look at your customers and SERVE them if you want tips. Or business. My friend and I went elsewhere after being ignored by this douche.

Terrible service. The bartender was so rude that we left and went elsewhere. I can't recommend this place, nor would I wish it on anyone.

As a sushi chef ,I don;t go out for sushi much but when i'm in Minneapolis, I sometimes like to go out for sake and sushi simply because it's fun sitting on the other side! Nami is one of the few who serves good fresh fish. Sit with Hide at the bar, buy him a drink and tell him omakase!

Great happy hour, not stellar service, but it's fine. Only a few sushi choices, but all are done very well.

I wasn't impressed. Obviously, the people on here that are rating the sushi as great here have never been to a real sushi place before. Is that really that hard to find here in the Midwest?

My husband and I love this restaurant, the waitstaff is always awesome, and thier sushi is great. My suggestion is to sway from just hapy hour items, and try the jalapeno hamachi!

Went there last friday, took forever to get service, and food was mediocre. I would say Oragami is just a little better because of the food quality, but their service is sketchy too.

so disappointing my organization tried to come for happy hour, we called ahead they were not willing to work with us told us first come first served, we came early, but refused to seat us for almost an hour then once we sat we waited another 20 minutes for a server who gave us attitude, and a manager who was even less accomodating. Food was average, definitely overpriced though and the service left a bad taste in our mouth.

My brother and I ran over there on a Friday for Happy Hour and their Sushi is muy bien. Nice Happy Hour. King thinks Sushi is good

This place has them all beat in the downtown area. The best tempura, and some of the best service in Minneapolis. Nicer prices than Origami, and awesome apps. Our choice every time.

The sushi happy hour doesn't really consist of sushi that real sushi eaters want. If you are just into eating sushi because it is cool to like sushi then this is your place.

My sister and I both got food poisoning at Nami. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO NAMI. I don't care how good their deals are. I was sick for days, and still can't think about eating sushi.

If you disregard some of the stuck up clientele and can find a place at the bar for happy hour (no happy hour prices in the dining area), this place is a great deal. If not, it kind of stinks. But the service is always fast and the bartenders are good. Overall, awesome deals on good sushi, you just have to fight for a seat at that damn bar.

fantastic... get there early to cozy up to the bar, or wait it out on the cumfy lounge seating. sushi, sake, wine. incredible for groups or alone at the bar. mmm mmm mmm. it's like the best sushi love a cat can get.

You can't blame them for not serving you - next time, don't forget your ID. I don't care how old you are - it's THEIR ass if they get busted serving liquor to a minor! Plus, you should be responsible enough at 32 years old to know that. Duh.

I was disappointed with the place- seemed stuck up. Good prices on apps and drinks give it a 3 stars. I forgot my ID so they wouldn't serve me. I'm 32 years old people. I drank my diet coke and fumed.

The service was slow and not very customer friendly. We wanted to sit at the bar for the happy hour and both the waitress and manager made excuses as to why we couldn't get happy hour prices. We could only get the happy hour at the bar and the bar is small and there was a waiting list for the bar. We couldn't stand at the bar or have food standing up. I ordered food while people were placing drink order and I couldn't get my food until others order food. People making the sushi at the grocery store are more accommidating than Nami

Servers were pleasant but slow. Tiny bar area w/limited seating and they won't extend the happy hour prices outside the bar. (How convienient)The seafood tempura and martinis were mediocre. Pleasant atmosphere, though.

SGI must have been rude - the service I have experienced at Nami has been excellent. Good sushi, and happy hour $2 & $3 sushi apps can't be beat! The bartenders all rock!

Sushi is not that great. Service is Horrible!!! The only thing they have going for them is happy hour, (which has been slipping lately). The sushi chef's are totally lacking in personality.

Best sushi in Minneapolis. Nice atmosphere as well. Make reservations on weekends.

Nami has by far the best sushi in town. Great service both at the bar and at dinner! The drink/sushi specials are amazing! Bring a group and you are sure to have a fab night!

Trendy atmosphere and lighting from IKEA usually adds up to so-so dining experience, but Nami had some pretty good sushi. The service was average, and the prices were a little steep, but the food was good, and the saki was also.

Fantastic Sushi, very friendly staff so if you don't know much about sushi, (like me) but want to try it, this is a great place. Don't be shy about asking for help ordering, the wait staff loves explaining everything... Drinks are not cheap, but shouldn't be at a place like this- they pour them plenty strong though, so that should make up for it... The bar area has several comfy couches and chairs so you can wait for a table or just enjoy your cocktail... I really liked it! You have to try the Unagi- I know it's eel, but get over it, it's FANTASTIC

Haven't had drinks there, but the sushi is great.
