The Fine Line is one of the most variant of all places. What I mean is, you can either have a blast or it will be a bust. Somewhat newly remodled after a fire that put the Fine Line out of business, The Fine Line boasts huge musical line-ups at only slightly inflated prices. However, they can't really be blamed for that, it is a VERY intimate setting to see a show. The acoustics are well done, lights are pretty good, and acts usually get the crowd riled up.

There is a dancing area up front, but if you want to just hang back, there are tables behind, and if you get there early enough, tables on the 2nd floor balcony- the best place to see the show.

Drinks are usually pretty expensive and they mostly sell bottled beer. However, you can usually offset the high drink prices with cheaper admission usually found on the street or with a student ID. Overall, the crowd is dependent on the act, but usually everyone is friendly and service is timely.

THRIFTY TIP- Order Miller Taps, they're always $3

I was in town for a show last weekend that I was looking forward to for months. Throughout the evening I was told to move four different times from where I was standing. Every time I was told to move, within five minutes someone else would stand there without any issue. During shows they have tables that are pretty close to the stage and apparently you can't stand near them.... or I can't. I eventually just stood by the entrance. It seems like bartenders and servers in Minneapolis just plain hates their job lately. Fine Line still has one of, if not the best sound balance in the city.

Fine Line has 2-4-1 drinks Tuesday nights. Good venue for an intimate show unless the crowd chatters too much or the band plays softly.

Nice place to see live music (notice I said "see" because with all of the constant jabbering it's nearly impossible to "hear" the music), however the bathrooms are impossible to get to, and the prices are a bit steep. There is a reason this place is not-so-affectionately referred to as "the chatterbox". (Not to be confused with the actual Chatterbox, of course).

I'd rather see a good band at a bigger, good sounding venue like first ave. But it just depends on who has the best booking agent. It could be worse like the quest, but luckily they're out of business. Drinks are over the top expensive, and the beverage prices for the same items are different depending on whom you buy them from.
