The Dakota is located on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, and has a longstanding tradition for bringing in large national acts. The Dakota Jazz Club is a very intimate venue for really listening to and being part of the concert. Patrons at the Dakota are all ages and enjoy great service and exquisite decor. The club is definitely upscale and a dress code does apply. They have a great outdoor seating area and exquisite American style food. They have both a dining area and a lounge for music.

I just went to happy hour or I guess they call it cocktail hour and loved it! $1 appetizers are right up my alley right now and they were really good not typical fried everything. I think it's the only place in town I can go for live music a couple drinks and a few appetizers for under 10 bucks. I'm going back!

I loved the dakota before they moved downtown. Now they have become too popular. I miss the good old days in St. Paul. The new dakota is fine. Nothing wrong with it. I just long for it's humble beginnings.

The Dakota is no longer where it's at. Gone is the incredible late night happy hour menu, up goes the cover charge, and the staff was very rude. So much for the music of the struggling man. If you like your jazz high priced and packaged for the yuppie crowd, this is your place.

Skip the big show and go early or late - the music is always good and it's not so crowded.

I think I agree with the review below. Been there a couple times for the late-night jazz. Pretty C-list (even bad to the point where it's just annoying.) But the food/drink specials are OK. Not a bad place especially considering normal hours are pretty expensive.
